Ancillary Packaging

In packaging, ancillaries cover a large group of products and play a vital role towards completeness of a package. Whether that be pre-tied ribbons that can be used to decorate a completed gift box or secondary packing boxes to enable you to ship out your completed products.

The ancillary materials along with the primary packaging materials provide product–package compatibility, product preservation and protection, containment, consumer convenience and consumer protection. In the case of packages, which come directly in contact with the food product, the safety aspects that apply to the primary package also apply to the ancillary materials. Typical examples where ancillary food safety is still key are paper cups that sit within the products or basecards that sit within a cake box. If you check out the specification of each product you will see it's suitability for direct or secondary contact (this relates to food safety specifications)
